Kate Winslet wants to spend her 40th birthday in a bikini.

The 'Titanic' star hits the big milestone in October and is already planning how she'll spend her special day parading her flawless physique in a skimpy two-piece.

Speaking on the UK's breakfast show 'Lorraine' today (18.03.15), she said of her birthday: ''I have this strange notion that I'm going to spend the day in a bikini, I don't know why I sort of decided that but I just want to feel great and vital, and all the things I do actually feel and so I'm looking forward to it.''

And the 39-year-old actress, who has over 30 films under her belt, feels very content about going into the next chapter of her life following the success of the last few years.

She explained: ''I'm very excited about it [my birthday] actually I have to say. I think the last couple of years I've done a lot, had the baby, creatively it's been just really interesting, diverse and sort of fulfilling time for me so I kind of feel like when I get to that 40th birthday I will have earned it you know.''

Kate - who has children Mia, 14, with first husband Jim Threapleton, son Joe, 11, with second spouse Sam Mendes and 14-month-old son Bear with current husband Ned Rocknroll - is determined to continue her success into 40s and already has a number of projects lined up for the future.
