We thought it might be a washout, but it's not
For all his complexity, usually rooted in a certain deity, Kanye West can sure spit some bars. His new album Yeezus seemed like an accident waiting to happen, with the rapper’s constant rants on stage, his relationship with the less than hip hop savvy Kim Kardashian, and his increasing arrogance.
But his arrogance can be mistaken for confidence sometimes, and confident he should be, as his latest offering Yeezus has soared to the top of the iTunes charts, garnering almost universal critical acclaim along the way. “Yeezus feels very proto- something, the roots of some aesthetic that has yet to be minted. It’s revolutionary at its most urgent, as on “Black Skinhead’” say Consequence of Sound, while Pitchfork say “Each fluorescent strike of noise, incongruous tempo flip, and warped vocal is bolted into its right place across the record's fast 40 minutes.” Entertainment Weekly, quite simply, say “This album has the potential to mess with your whole year.”
So, probably against his hater’s wishes, Kanye has done it again with Yeezus. Now he has to settle down and get his head into parenthood; he and Kim are the proud parents of a new baby girl, who, if reports are to be believed, is called Kaidence Donda West."Can't believe it! It's so crazy!" said new mum Kardashian, 32, on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show, albeit via a note.
