Is the music industry getting a new female superstar?

Kanye West thinks so, as he is mentoring a relatively unknown 17 year-old by the name of Pia Mia.

The rapper even thinks she could be become the next Rihanna, according to RadarOnline.

But it doesn't seem like everyone close to Mr West agrees.

Although Kanye and his future wife Kim Kardashian recently graced the cover of Vogue, with the reality TV star wearing a wedding dress, and declared that they are totally in love, the truth is reportedly quite different.

The website claims the 'Black Skinhead' rapper is putting his work before their relationship and that Kim is becoming "jealous" of her beau spending more time with Pia Mia.

West and the teenage singer have been collaborating together under his GOODMUSIC production company these past couple of months, he has reportedly been producing several of her songs.

"Kanye is producing some tracks for her and he's quite involved," a source close to Kanye told Radar. "He believes she could be the next Rihanna."

The 'Yeezus' hit maker is such a fan of hers because "she's young, fresh and hip - totally his target audience," the insider added. "He's been consulting her on a lot of his creative projects, including the Kanye x APC collection."

The fact that Kanye is turning to someone so young for advice on future projects has unnerved the rest of his camp, but the rapper feels she is key to keeping his career relevant.

"Kanye's creative team was pretty shocked that he would use a teenager as his confidante," the source continued. "And Kim was actually kind of agitated by it, because he doesn't usually want her input on design stuff. She was a little jealous."

Pia Mia is from Guam and rose to fame after covering Drake's hit song 'Hold On We're Going Home' on YouTube.

With Kanye's guidance, could this 17 year-old teenager live up to the hype?
