Yeezus will be available for purchase June 18 and so far it looks as though it'll be worth the wait
Kanye West will release Yeezus, his long-awaited follow-up to 2010's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, later this June - with the rapper very gradually releasing the details and sneak-peaks into the album as the date draws ever closer. Last night (June 10) in New York City, Yeezy gave friends, fans and journalists the chance to hear the album in it's entirety for the very first time, but whilst the rest of us peons will have to wait for the official release date, the gathering did result in the list of collaborators on the album being revealed. And what a list it is.
The number of people appearing on the album isn't quite as high as some of his previous efforts have been, but those who did make it on to the album are more than capable of providing the goods for the release. Among those taking part include Chief Keef, King Louie, Hudson Mohawke, Travis Scott and Charlie Wilson, whilst past collaborators RZA, Daft Punk and Justin Vernon have returned to give Yeezy a helping hand in the studio. That isn't everyone though, as Rick Rubin has also been announced as an executive producer on the album and there may be even more talent (such as Frank Ocean) on hand to make see the record live up to it's hype.
Those who got to sample the album during the private listening party seem to agree that the album is a good listen the first time round, but we'll all have to wait a bit longer to see whether it retains a lasting quality.Yeezus will be available for purchase June 18.
