The often in trouble rapper will be facing a maximum of one year in jail for criminal battery and attempted grand theft
Kanye West will be facing charges following his violent run-in with a paparazzo at LAX in July. According to TMZ, the rapper has been charged with criminal battery and attempted grand theft after a Los Angeles judge deemed the rapper's actions to be worthy of a court date on Friday, 13 September.
Kanye is notoriously unfriendly to the paps
Prior to the attack, which took place on 19 July, Kanye had issued a warning to the many photographers who flock around him when he's in public to never talk to him. Upon his arrival at LAX, one photographer was brave enough to try and engage the rapper in conversation, for which he was promptly attacked by Kanye, who tried to wrestle his camera away from him before fleeing the scene in an awaiting car.
The photographer was later taken to A&E and promptly decided to press charges and hire Gloria Allred to represent him in court, who said the attack left her client badly injured. A court hearing has been arranged to begin on 10 October and if Kanye is found guilty of both charges being held against him, he will face a maximum sentence of 1 year in jail.
Attempts have been made to hear from Kanye and his lawyer, Blair Berk, however both have been unavailable for comment since the news was announced. The rapper is due to embark on a tour of North America next month, with the first date taking place in Seattle on 19 October. For Kanye's sake, the court case should be over by that point.
If he didn't want to be photographed so much, he probably shouldn't have started dating Kim Kardashian
