If you pay close attention to Kanye West’s life – who doesn’t – then you may have noticed that Yeezy hasn’t really gotten in trouble with the law lately. That was until Monday, when police announced that Kanye is being investigated in a case of a misdemeanor battery assault – that oh-so-favorite charge of celebrities, after the good ol’ DUI, of course.

For a while it seemed like Kim had made Kanye a better man.

The charge is in relation to an alleged incident, which occurred near Wilshire Boulevard at 12:15 p.m. Monday, a Beverly Hills Police Department statement said, via CNN. According to the police report, West had left the location by the time of the officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing. The police statement gave few other details.

"The named suspect was identified as Kanye West by the victim and several witnesses," police said.

Unfortunately, history tends to repeat itself.

Kanye’s last brush with the law happened last summer, when he was charged with another count of battery and attempted grand theft after a scuffle with a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport. At the time, photographer in question appealed to nearby police officers, claiming that he was taking photos of an "individual" when the suspect attacked him.

West's lawyer, Blair Berk, entered a not guilty plea on West's behalf in court in November. The case is set for another hearing on January 23. According to a spokesperson for the Los Angeles Los Angeles city attorney's office, each of the original charges carries a maximum penalty of six months in jail.
