Kanye West, the global rapper with a reported net worth of $100 million, says he cut ties with Nike and formed a partnership with Adidas because he gets royalties in the new arrangement and has to "provide for my family." In case you unfamiliar with Kanye's little set-up, he's marrying the multi-millionaire reality star Kim Kardashian.

Speaking on Angie Martinez's New York's Hot 97 show, West confirmed that he was leaving Nike and setting up camp at rivals Adidas.

"I took the adidas deal because I have royalties and I have to provide for my family," he said, "Whatever is official, non-official, official-what y'all gonna see is I'm gonna be the Tupac of product."

"I'm gonna be the first hip-hop designer and because of that I'm gonna be bigger than Wal-Mart."

During his now infamous interview with BBCs Zane Lowe, Kanye claimed that all he needed was a joint-venture partnership to achieve breakthrough his fashion design aspirations. The whole thing turned into a rant, though somebody at Adidas was listening and they're happy to stump up the cash.

In this week's interview, Kanye once again spoke of his frustrations at his difficulty cracking the fashion business,  "What I want to express is yes, there are things that hold me back because I'm black but there's also reasons why I'm there because I'm black," he said, "They need a token. But since I'm the token I'm gonna spend my token and take the train all the way home. I'm gonna wear tight jeans like a white boy and a big chain like hip-hop."

Kanye ended his interview by saying, "I have a meeting with a corporation actually and I don't want to be late and prove any stereotypes."

Oh, and just for fun, here's the video for Bound 2, or as we call it, Kim Kardashian straddling Kanye West on a motorbike.
