Kanye West released the trailer to his latest short film 'Cruel Winter', which is the second in an emerging sequence, following last year's 'Cruel Summer'. It's difficult to say whether we can add filmmaking to Kanye's 'talents'. He does it, sure, but 'talented'? Perhaps not.

In this trailer all that can be seen as some shots of trees, twigs and a swamp, in varying degrees of focus and clarity. There's a voice over from George W. Bush (the first one) speaking in 1991 about  a 'new world order'. All very mystic. Clearly, Mr. West has tried to be really arty, and perhaps if this was 20 years ago when nothing particularly similar to this had been seen yet then maybe we'd like it. As it is, we don't. It resembles the imagination of a GCSE media project, with a group of 15-year-olds having been given the title 'dark and mysterious' and told to run with it. Granted, they'd be intelligent teenagers, given some expensive equipment and generally just interested in what that equipment could do, but nevertheless, uninspiring.

Despite not 'liking' it, its difficult to say we're not at the very least intrigued as to what the full film will behold, if only out of some apathetic curiosity. Cruel Summer, his first short film, was accompanied by a G.O.O.D Music album of the same title, if there's a similar release with Cruel Winter, then that'll certainly be something to get excited about.
