Justin Timberlake was devastated when he met his sporting hero, American football star PEYTON MANNING - and the quarterback had no idea who he was.
Timberlake bumped into Manning at a charity bash back in 1998, while the singer was in boyband 'N Sync, and shortly after the athlete had turned pro with the Indianapolis Colts.
He was thrilled because Manning had played for Timberlake's favourite college team, the University of Tennessee (UT) - but the meeting turned sour when the young star was confused for hired help.
Timberlake says, "I met Peyton Manning at a charity bowling event. I was still a teenager at the time, I was really excited to meet him. I said, 'You played for UT and I'm from Tennessee', and, 'It's really great to meet you.'"
He said, 'That's great kid. Size 11 and a half.' He thought I worked at the bowling alley.
"The best bit of the story is, I didn't really know what to do, so I went and got him some bowling shoes."
