The SexyBack hitmaker loves to tee off in his spare time and even owned his own luxury course in his native Memphis, Tennessee until last year (14), but he lagged behind as he hit the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Lake Tahoe, California for the annual competition.

Timberlake was teamed with The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star Alfonso Ribeiro and former American footballer Jerry Rice as they moved from hole to hole, but the trio failed to crack the top 30 players, with the singer finishing the contest tied for 34th place. Rice completed the competition in 39th, followed by Ribeiro in 45th place.

Despite his lacklustre performance, Timberlake admitted he really enjoyed himself at his first appearance in the tournament.

He tells America's Golf Channel, "Never seen anything like it. It is a really special event. Al (Ribeiro) has been talking it up for years. To be here, the fans, the lake, the mountains. I think it is fun for us to get together and hang out a little bit."

Timberlake even entertained fans at hole 17 by joining Ribeiro to reprise the actor's TV character Carlton Banks' signature awkward dance moves, much to the delight of the crowd. He also tossed a football to retired wide receiver Rice.

Former baseball star Mark Mulder was crowned the winner of the American Century Championship tournament, followed by fellow sportsmen Eric Gagne and Josh Scobee in second and third place, respectively.
