Bieber has managed to knock Adele off the top spot with ‘Sorry’.
Justin Bieber has taken the top spot in the UK singles chart this week, ousting Adele after three weeks at number one. After four weeks on the chart and sitting in the number two spot last week, Bieber’s ‘Sorry’ has finally made it to number one, breaking a new chart record in the process.
Justin Bieber is on top of the UK singles chart.
‘Sorry’ sold an impressive 104,000 combined chart sales this week to take the top spot. That number includes a massive 5.35 million streams, which is a new personal best for Bieber. ‘Sorry’ is the 21 year old’s second UK number one after ‘What Do You Mean?’ earlier this year.

But ‘Sorry’ isn't Bieber’s only entry in the charts this week. The Canadian singer dominates this week’s top five with no less than three entries: ‘Sorry’ at one, ‘Love Yourself’ at three and ‘What Do You Mean?’ at five.
No other male artist has achieved this impressive feat in 34 years, since John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’, ‘Happy Xmas (War Is Over)’ and ‘(Just Like) Starting Over’ all went to the top five following his tragic death in January 1981.
Every track from Bieber’s newly released Purpose album found its way into the Top 100, with eight of them cracking the top 40. This is the first time ever that a living act has achieved this many entries simultaneously in the top 40.

Elsewhere in the top five, Adele has fallen one place to take the number two spot with ‘Hello’ and ‘X-Factor’ runner up Fleur East is at four with ‘Sax’. The official Children In Need single, Jess Glynne’s 'Take Me Home' has risen 14 places flowing last week’s telethon, to reach the number six spot.
