Justin Bieber's lawyer has been granted another three weeks to secure a plea deal with prosecutors in the pop superstar's Florida Dui case.
The 20-year-old hitmaker was slapped with charges of resisting arrest and Dui in January (14) after he was accused of drag racing with a pal in Miami Beach.
The case was expected to go to trial this summer (14), but reports last month (Jun14) suggested the counts would be dropped if the singer completes an anger management course.
A brief hearing was held in a Miami court on Wednesday (16Jul14), when it was revealed a plea agreement had yet to be finalised.
Bieber's lawyer Mark Shapiro and Assistant State Attorney David Gilbert filed a joint motion asking for extra time to negotiate a deal, and the request was granted by Miami-Dade County Judge William Altfield.
The two sides will meet in court again on 5 August (14). If a plea deal is not reached by that date, they will discuss plans to move to trial.
Bieber was not in court for the hearing.
The Dui case is just one of the singer's legal woes - he is also facing prosecution in Canada amid allegations he lashed out at a limousine driver in December (13), and earlier this week (begs14Jul14), he was ordered to sit for another deposition in an assault lawsuit filed against him by a paparazzo in Miami following an altercation last summer (13).
