Justin Bieber's monkey will become the property of Germany if he doesn't get in touch by May 17, 2013.
Justin Bieber is still yet to acknowledge that his confiscated capuchin monkey Mally is waiting for him at a German airport, though his team have apparently made steps to break ties from the little fella on his behalf. The shelter that's been taking care of Mally said on Tuesday that it had received emails supposedly from camp Bieber suggesting that the pet might be better off if he were taken in by a facility in Europe. "Our team is looking into the idea of placing Mally at a zoo in Germany. Would you happen to have any recommendations for places that Mally would be safe and thrive?" said one email, according to the Associated Press.
The shelter are understandably still waiting for Bieber himself to get in touch with them directly, though said they would prefer to put Mally into a rescue facility, rather than a zoo. The monkey was confiscated by German authorities in late March after Bieber - who had arrived on a private plane - could not produce the proper paperwork to bring the animal into the country. The animal was reportedly a 19th birthday present to Bieber from music producer Jamal 'Mally Mall' Rashid, who picked up the monkey during a brief visit to Los Angeles, according to Buzzfeed.
Bieber has a history of taking in animals, only to toss them aside soon after. He gave away his hamster Pac to a fan at an Atlantic concert in December. Pac died last month.
Anyway, if Bieber does not get in touch with authorities in Germany before May 17, 2013, the monkey will become the property of the German nation. The clock's ticking, Justin.
