Justin Bieber’s new acoustic album Believe Acoustic looks set for the Billboard number one spot this week. If he’s successful, this will be the fifth number one for Justin in the USA. Although critics have slammed the album – which features acoustic re-workings of some of the tracks from 2012’s Believe – as little more than a cash cow, Bieber’s popularity has outweighed any criticisms that the album has drawn and Digital Spy report that another number one is most probably in the bag.
Analysts have predicted sales of between 180,000 and 190,000 in the first week of release, which will pretty much ensure that Bieber bags the top spot this week. If he does get his fifth number one, Bieber will have attained five number ones in four consecutive years. Only nine other musical acts have achieved that in Billboard’s chart-compiling history. Over the pond in the UK, the album is nestling at number three in their midweek album charts, as well.
Justin Bieber’s squeaky clean reputation has taken something of a battering in recent weeks, as he has been accused of drug taking and being less than gentlemanly to his former girlfriend Selena Gomez when they split. However, Justin seems to have gotten off lightly from all the bad press and it doesn’t seem that his album sales are being affected too badly. No doubt Bieber’s management team are breathing a sigh of relief over this bit of news.
