Julianne Moore is urging fellow veteran actresses to quit complaining about a lack of Hollywood roles for older women.

The Hunger Games star, 52, began her career in the early 1980s and is still enjoying sought-after parts in blockbuster movies even in her sixth decade.

Other ageing screen sirens often moan that big roles dry up for female stars as they get older, but Moore is adamant complaining about it only reinforces Hollywood ageism - although she admits she has been "lucky" during her career.

She tells InStyle magazine, "I can't complain. I've been pretty lucky. And I think the more we talk about it, the more we make it real. I hate being asked about this stuff! Let's appreciate where we are. Let's not wish our lives away."
