Roberts will help adapt the documentary, 'Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World', for the big screen.
Julia Roberts has signed on to bring the amazing and heartwarming story of 'Batkid' to the big screen, in a film based on Miles Scott’s story. Scott, a five-year-old leukaemia sufferer, made headlines in 2013 when he was granted the chance to be Batkid by the Make-a-Wish foundation.

Roberts will adapt Miles’ story from the crowdfunded documentary Batkid Begins: The Wish Heard Around the World. which is set to premiere at the Slamdance Film Festival on Jan. 24.
Speaking about Robert’s involvement in the 'Batkid' feature film, documentary director Dana Nachman said, “It’s thrilling to me that Ms. Roberts and her team watched our film and were so moved by it that they want to dedicate their time and creative capital to make sure the widest audience possible will know and love Miles’ story and the spirit of this intimate special event that went global, as much as we do.”

Nachman will also be executive producing the new film, while Lisa Gillan and Marisa Yeres Gill, of Robert’s Red Om Films will help produce. Roberts will also star in the project, in an as yet unknown role.

In November 2013 Miles Scott became known around the world as 'Batkid', after his Make a Wish dream came true. The five year old took part in a series of staged missions in ‘Gotham’, where over 25,000 supporters across the city, and even more on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, tracked his heroics.
The event culminated with Scott receiving the key to the city from Mayor Ed Lee in a ceremony which attracted more than 400K tweets in 117 countries, reaching nearly two billion social media users.
