America's leading Hindus are planning to honour actress Julia Roberts for her "steadfast devotion" to the faith, and for setting a good example to Hollywood stars.
The Pretty Woman star confessed to being a practising Hindu two years ago after spending time in India while filming Eat, Pray, Love and scholars are impressed she's still serious about her faith.
In a recent interview, she was quoted as saying, "I've received real spiritual satisfaction through Hinduism," and confessed she's a big fan of festivals like Diwali.
The Oscar winner also spoke of returning to India, adding, "I would love to return to this sacred land again and visit some key pilgrimage spots, like Haridwar or Puri."
Welcoming her continued devotion to the religion, distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed has recommended that Roberts be properly honoured.
He tells WENN, "She should be honoured in a traditional Hindu manner near her home. I will be contacting her staff in the near future in this regard."
Zed, who is President of the Universal Society of Hinduism, has urged other Hollywood stars interested in the religion to follow Roberts' example and take time out of "their stressful lives to explore Hinduism," adding, "They would appreciate the rich, diverse and long tradition of Hindu philosophy and its interpretation of the nature of reality."
In 2010, Roberts revealed that she became interested in Hinduism after seeing a picture of Hanuman devotee Hindu guru Neem Karoli Baba, who died in 1973.
A yoga enthusiast, the star has visited sacred Indian site the Taj Mahal and she has a production company called Red Om Films - Om in Hinduism is the mystical syllable containing the universe.
