After that bizarre, hostage-esque apology video released by Johnny Depp and Amber Heard regarding smuggling their dogs into Australia, they prove that they haven't taken the situation quite as seriously as it first appeared as Depp deigns to mock the whole incident during a press conference in the UK for 'Alice Through the Looking Glass'.

The couple avoided prosecution last month when Amber Heard was issued with a good behaviour bond after pleading guilty to falsifying documents that would allow their Yorkshire Terriers, Pistol and Boo, to enter Australia without going through proper quarantine procedures. The apology video was part of the plea agreement, and Depp seems to have found the whole thing rather amusing.

'I'm gonna do this everywhere I go', he began at his press conference in London, with that same deadpan gaze. 'I would really like to apologise for not smuggling my dogs into England, because it would've been a bad thing to do.' He also described the Australian people as being generally 'chipper'.

The original video saw Depp and Heard take it in turns to speak out on their offence. 'Australia is free of many pests and diseases that are commonplace around the world, that is why Australia has to have such strong biosecurity laws', said Amber. 'I am truly sorry that Pistol and Boo were not declared. Protecting Australia is important.' Then Depp adds: 'Declare everything when you enter Australia'.

They were on their way into Queensland, Australia because Depp was shooting part of the fifth 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie, 'Dead Men Tell No Tales'. Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce even threatened to have the pups euthanized, which prompted Depp to joke at the 2015 Venice Film Festival: 'I killed my dogs and ate them, under orders of some sweaty, big-gutted man from Australia.'
