According to NME, the Pirates of The Caribbean star filled in on guitar for legendary singer/songwriter Elvis Costello on the track ‘Kansas City,’ after the British songsmith couldn’t make a particular recording session. Depp and Costello join other artists including Marcus Mumford of Mumford And Sons, as well as members of My Morning Jacket, Carolina Chocolate Drops and Dawes, who have also contributed to the record.
Produced by T Bone Burnett, the album is made up of unfinished Dylan songs from the folk singer’s 1967 Basement Tapes sessions - which until recently were thought to have been lost. Each artist has contributed music to at least one of two dozen unfinished songs for the album.

The record will also be accompanied by a documentary entitled Lost Songs: The Basement Tapes Continued, which will be directed by Sam Jones.
Of the project, the director said: “The discovery of these previously unknown Bob Dylan songs that were thought lost since 1967 is the stuff of Hollywood fiction and a find of truly historical proportions. It is a unique opportunity to film T Bone and these great artists as they collaborate with a young Bob Dylan, and each other, to create new songs and recordings. These days and nights in the studio have been nothing less than magical.”
