John Legend says it's ''only a matter of time'' before he and Chrissy Teigen start a family.

The 'All of Me' hitmaker, who married the model in Italy last year, admits he can't wait to become a father for the first time and will be delighted when the brunette stunner falls pregnant.

The 36-year-old star said: ''We want to have kids, so it's just a matter of time. Whenever it happens, we'll be excited.''

John says he and the brunette beauty ''try to be together physically whenever we can,'' but are also very focused on their own careers.

He added to Us Weekly magazine: ''We want each other to be happy, and part of that is being fulfilled in our work and loving what we do.

''We're there for each other.''

The 'Ordinary People' hitmaker recently admitted it took him a few years to realise Chrissy, 29, was the one.

Asked if he fell in love with her the moment they met, he said: ''Not right away. I'm more cautious than that.

''I wasn't like, 'This is the woman I'm going to marry' from day one. For me I'm the kind of person who needs to grow into that feeling. It was probably a couple of years in when I could already see us being together forever.''
