Some good news has come for the family and friends of Joan Rivers as she has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room following her cardiac arrest during surgery last week.

Her daughter Melissa revealed the news in a short statement, saying: "My mother has been moved out of intensive care and into a private room where she is being kept comfortable. Thank you for your continued support." No news has been given on the state of her health at the minute.

Rivers went into cardiac  arrest whilst undergoing surgery on her vocal chords last Thursday, and a representative for the family has said that the rumours the family were planning to sue the endoscopy clinic where Joan was undergoing her procedure were not true. The 81 year old comedian has receieved a plethora of support from other celebrities, including Star Trek actor Zachary Quinto, who tweeted ''sending so much love and healing energy to @Joan_Rivers !!! no one is ready to go on without you lady!!!''

Meanwhile, doubt has been cast on whether or not Rivers will be well enough to perform her schedule tour of the UK as planned. Due to kick off in Cardiff in October, the two-week 'Joan Rivers: Before They Close The Lid Tour' is due to also visit cities including London, Brighton, Manchester and Newcastle before wrapping up in Glasgow on October 22nd.

An outspoken comedian known for her acid-tongued wit, Rivers has offended almot everyone in Hollywood, from Kim Kardashian to Adele. Yet with over fifty years in the business and previously showing no signs of slowing down, she is also considered by many one of the hardest working celebrities around today.
