J.K. Rowling, creator/author of the Harry Potter franchise, has shocked the wizard's global fan base in a recent confession.

The 48 year-old Brit recently expressed regret in putting the characters Hermione and Ron together, instead Harry should have been her husband.

In a Wonderland magazine interview published by The Sunday Times, along with Harry Potter star Emma Watson (Hermione), Rowling confesses, "I wrote the Hermione-Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfilment."

"That's how it was conceived, really," she added. "For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron."

The novelist later admitted that the over achieving, young female wizard should have ended up marrying the fantasy franchise's protagonist character 'Harry Potter', calling them a "better match."

As the tale comes to a close, time fast -forwards 19 years and Hermione is married to Harry's best friend Ron and they have two children together, a daughter named Rose and a son named Hugo.

Harry settles down with Ron's little sister Ginny, and are parents to three children, James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna Potter.

Rowling is aware of how this revelation may be taken by the legion of loyal Harry Potter fans.

"I'm sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I'm absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that," she said. "It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility."

But she does have one supporter as Emma Watson, who tarred in all eight Potter films, stated, "I think there are fans out there who know that too and who wonder whether Ron would have really been able to make her happy."
