The Irresistible hitmaker took a step back from her chart career following the release of her holiday album Happy Christmas in 2010, and has spent the past few years focusing on turning her Jessica Simpson fashion brand into a billion-dollar business while raising her two children, three-year-old daughter Maxwell Drew and two-year-old son Ace Knute, with her husband, former American footballer Eric Johnson.

Last year (14), Simpson admitted she would love to start recording songs again so her family can share in her passion for music, and she has since found the perfect solution by turning the basement of the couple's California home into a recording studio.

The construction is almost complete and Simpson has promised fans she will be back with new material soon.

She tells U.S. breakfast show Today, "I probably have maybe, like, three more weeks until it's done and then I'm down in my basement recording. I'm sure my kids will completely take over.

"Even Eric, my husband, I recorded a Christmas album with him, but he's never actually seen me on stage and like, do my thing that actually got me here."
