Punk soul Brothers

Golf Records

Jesse James formed back in June 2000. The North Londoners, who have enjoyed some success on the UK gig circuit this year, release their first album Punk Soul Brother. The band write Ska music that it is very up beat and lively, I was actually surprised to find out that this band are English the lead vocalist does sometimes sounds a little like Sum 41 (minus the rapping) but If you like less than Jake, this is definitely a band who disserve a listen.

It's not unusual for Ska bands to create songs with very strange track titles and Jesse James are no exception on Punk Soul Brother just as an example "Black Sheep Generator" or "Elephants" are some of the bewilderingly interesting. The entire album is upbeat and does have some very amusing parts. In a typical punk fashion the album is kept to minimum length, with the longest song on the album lasting only 3:05 minutes long.

Last month, Jesse James were the support band for Bowling for Soup who are a new addition to a long line of modern punk rockers, I have only heard the 1 song by Bowling for Soup but from what I have to go on I think Jesse James appear to make better music.
