He’s filmed in front of a live audience thousands of times in his career, but former ‘Top Gear’ host Jeremy Clarkson has admitted he’s nervous about the recording of his new Amazon motoring series ‘The Grand Tour’. Clarkson will be fronting the show with his former ‘Top Gear’ colleagues James May and Richard Hammond and filming was scheduled to being in South Africa on Friday.

Wiring in his weekly column for The Sun, Clarkson said: "We've done it hundreds of times. It should be easy. I should be relaxed. But tomorrow, in a field just outside Johannesburg, James May, Richard Hammond and I will record the first studio segment for our new show, 'The Grand Tour'. And I don’t mind telling you. I’m crapping myself.”

The show ran in to trouble on Thursday after Clarkson’s flight to South Africa was delayed by 12 hours. On Twitter the host wrote: “Dear @British_Airways When you delay a flight by 12 hours - 12 do you have any idea how much inconvenience that causes?”

“People of South Africa. We still want to do our first show there, But, has anyone got a plane?” He then later added: “Good news. Some clever bods at @British_Airways have found a plane that works and we are on our way.”

‘The Grand Tour’ is scheduled to hit Amazon Prime worldwide this autumn. Along with filming in Johannesburg, episodes will also take place in Italy and the UK. Earlier this month Amazon launched a prize draw to win tickets to the UK filming, however the date and exact location of shooting are yet to be revealed.
