Spike Lee’s Oldboy is tanking at the box office. After a limited 583 theater release on Wednesday, the film might not even reach the $2 million milestone by the end of the weekend. From a script by Mark Protosevich, the remake of the cult South Korean film stars Josh Brolin, Elizabeth Olsen and Sharlto Copley.

Elsewhere, The Book Thief (based on the Markus Zusak novel) saw an expansion into a total of 1,234 theatres Wednesday, helping it make it into the top ten by Thursday. On Thursday, the film’s domestic earnings reached $3 million, making it a real contender for box office success. This may be due in part to Twentieth Century Fox delaying the film’s release to make room for the highly anticipated Catching Fire.
