J-Law decided to call out a non-English speaking reporter for not looking up from his phone, but many onlookers reckon she was in the wrong because he was using it to keep track of his questions.
Jennifer Lawrence has split opinion on the internet after she upbraided a foreign press reporter for looking at his phone during an interview with her backstage at the Golden Globes.
The 25 year old star, who had won the Golden Globe for best actress in a musical or comedy for her role as Joy Mangano in David O. Russell’s latest film Joy on Sunday night (January 10th), was being interviewed by a reporter who kept glancing at his phone while she was replying.
“You can’t live your whole life behind your phone, bro,” Lawrence eventually said, calling out the offending behaviour. “You can’t do that, you’ve got to live in the now.”

The journalist quickly apologised, before asking her “how do you see yourself for the Oscar night?”. She wouldn’t let it go, however, and responded “We’re at the Golden Globes. If you put your phone down, you’d know that.”

Lawrence had also done a similar thing earlier on in the evening while up on stage, presenting one of the evening’s prizes alongside her BFF Amy Schumer, making fun of somebody for not looking up from their phone.
However, listening to a clip of the exchange that was captured by Variety and distributed on Twitter, many people pointed out that the nervous reporter’s first language clearly wasn’t English and that he could have been using his phone to remember what questions he was supposed to ask her, and slammed Lawrence as “rude”.

“It's like Jennifer Lawrence tries to be funny but it comes off as rude sometimes. She didn't have to out the reporter like that,” one user wrote, while another said: “What Jennifer Lawrence did to that reporter wasn't feminist it was rude and unkind.”
What do you think - was J-Law being rude?
