Having been the subject of literally countless articles speculating whether or not she is pregnant over the years, Jennifer Aniston has opened up some more about why she decided to hit out at how women in the public eye are judged.

Speaking to the December issue of Marie Claire, for whom she is the cover star, the 47 year old actress says she is fed up of being “shamed” for her married / not married status over the years and wants to regarded as something other than a “sad childless human”.

Regarding her marriage to Justin Theroux, and her former marriage to Brad Pitt, Aniston said: “My marital status has been shamed; my divorce status was shamed; my lack of a mate had been shamed; my nipples have been shamed.”

Back in July this year, she wrote a passionate op-ed piece for The Huffington Post in which she declared her immense frustration at only being regarded for her personal life.

“It’s like, ‘Why are we only looking at women through this particular lens of picking us apart? Why are we listening to it?’” she vented. “I just thought: ‘I have worked too hard in this life and this career to be whittled down to a sad, childless human.’”

Aniston’s career in recent years has been characterised by more interesting projects such as Cake, in contrast to the identikit romantic comedies with which she had become associated in her post-‘Friends’ career.

“This is a time when I’m not completely sure what I’m doing,” she said when asked about her future. “I’m at this sort of crossroads trying to figure out what inspires me deep in my core. What used to make me tick is not necessarily making me tick anymore… The most challenging thing right now is trying to find what it is that makes my heart sing.”

She tied the knot with 45 year old Justin in a ceremony in August last year, and in the new interview she enthused once again about her happiness in her personal life.

“Why is he the right person for me? All I know is that I feel completely seen, and adored, in no matter what state,” she answered. “There’s no part of me that I don’t feel comfortable showing, exposing. And it brings forth the best part of myself, because I care about him so much. And he’s such a good person. It hurts me to think of anything hurting him.”
