E! Online have reportedly obtained copies of court papers which reveal that Air Platinum Club have dropped their lawsuit against the multi-platinum selling rapper Jay Z. The original case was brought against Jay Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, because he is alleged to owe the company around $137,485 for "multiple flights" around the world.
According to Air Platinum Club, Jay Z accumulated around 55 hours of flight time on one of their private jets but has, thus far, only paid for 37 of them. He is also in debt to them, it would seem, for catering costs, taxes and fees and a trip to the UK. It appears that the case has been dropped against Mr Carter but it is unclear whether or not any out-of-court settlement has been reached instead. Jay Z's lawyers were apparently unavailable for comment. If the matter had ended in court, it would not have been the first time that Jay Z has found himself in the court room. In his more hedonistic days, he was accused of stabbing Lance Rivera at Los Angeles' Kit Kat Club.
Tonight (February 6, 2012), Jay Z is scheduled to become the first hip-hop artist to ever play a headline show at Carnegie Hall. Proceeds from two concerts, tonight and tomorrow, will be donated to the Shawn Carter Foundation and United Way charitable causes.
