Jason Derulo used to have pictures of Beyonce, Shakira and Carmen Electra on his wall.

The 'Ridin' Solo' singer used to put pictures of female pop superstars in his bedroom when he grew up in Miami, Florida, and now he's so famous he's meeting the same girls he grew up ogling.

He said: ''I had lots of posters of famous women I liked - Beyonce, Shakira, Carmen Electra... I actually told Carmen Electra when I met her and she said, 'You make me feel so old!' ''

The 24-year-old singer is in a relationship with Jordin Sparks and says suffering a broken neck during tour rehearsals last year helped move things along as he realised life is too short.

He said: ''Before the accident, I was more reckless in relationships. I was a guy in my early twenties having fun. I wasn't really looking for love, but my injury woke me up.

''Jordin and I had been friends for a long time and I definitely liked her. The injury made me pay attention - it was like someone saying, 'Hey, wake up!' ''
