Jamie Foxx has branded speculation he is dating Katie Holmes ''hilarious''.

The 'Django Unchained' actor - who is good friends with the 34-year-old beauty's ex-husband Tom Cruise - insists he is not seeing the former 'Dawson's Creek' star, following claims they have been enjoying secret dates.

Jamie insisted the rumours are ''100 per cent not true'', and added to Entertainment Tonight: ''In fact, it's quite hilarious because we simply danced at a charity event along with a lot of other people.''

The 45-year-old star - who has two daughters, Corinne, 19, and Annalise, four, from previous relationships - is rumoured to have flirted with Katie at a charity concert in East Hampton, New York, in August, where they were spotted dancing and chatting to friends including talk show host Ellen DeGeneres.

A source said Jamie ''grabbed her butt and tried to seal the deal'' after they shared a dance, but Katie was ''not interested''.

While the stars insist their summer rendezvous was completely innocent, the pair have reportedly spent time together in recent weeks, including meetings at Katie's apartment in Chelsea, New York.

'Mania Days' star Katie - who has a four-year-old daughter, Suri, with Tom - is also thought to have spent a night with Jamie at the Trump Soho Hotel while he was filming new movie 'Annie' in New York in September.
