James Corden has a ''need'' for attention.

The 'Late, Late Show' presenter loves being in the spotlight, but doesn't understand why he craves it so much.

He said: ''I don't quite know where it comes from, my want and need for attention, but at least I'm honest about it.''

While he loves attention, the 36-year-old star admitted he was initially ''very reticent'' about hosting a talk show, but quickly changed his mind.

He told Britain's Vogue magazine: ''I thought, actually, there's a chance that it'll be the very thing I'm best at.''

James has relocated to Los Angeles with wife Julia and their kids Max, four, and Carey, nine months, but he insists he won't be changing his appearance to fit in.

He said: ''Vanity is not attractive, and male vanity is the worst. LA has a lot of dudes who have the same chiselled face.

''I love clothes, but I'm one of those guys who made a choice aged 26: 'OK this is what I'll wear until I die.' ''

But the British star admits he has regular personal training sessions, though he ''hates every second''.

He added: ''[I work out with] a trainer called Brian, who's so big he looks like he's carrying carpets. I hate every second of it.''
