James Arthur has been diagnosed with acute exhaustion.
The 'You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You' singer has been forced to cancel several upcoming commitments after being told to rest for a week prior of the start of his UK tour, which begins next Friday (29.11.13) in Newcastle, north east England.
The star's publicist wrote on his official Facebook page: ''Unfortunately James Arthur has been diagnosed with acute exhaustion and instructed to rest for several days by his doctor.
''Regretfully, he has been forced to cancel all engagements during this period. James would like to apologise to his fans for any disappointment caused to them by these cancellations and he hopes to get back to full health as soon as possible.''
James' self-titled debut album was released today (22.11.13) and he took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support.
He wrote: ''My album is out TODAY but it wouldn't have happened without all you guys so thank YOU #LOVE (sic)''
Although tracks are available on iTunes the company has accepted a refund request from a buyer who was offended by lyrics of his song 'Hey Mickey'.
The track was criticised last weekend by comedians Matt Lucas and Frankie Boyle who claim the lyrics are homophobic and although James denies the claims, several people who have bought his LP have asked retailers for a refund.
One Twitter user, @Louieloodle74, shared part of an email claiming to be from a customer service representative at Apple, which read: ''After reviewing the circumstances of your case, we have determined that issuing you a refund for your purchase of [the album] James Arthur is an appropriate exception to the iTunes store terms and conditions, which state that all sales are final.''
