Jack White misses having a regular 9 to 5 job.
The 'Lazeretto' singer, who worked in an upholstery shop before finding fame with the White Stripes, claims he misses the anticipation of being at work and wanting to rush home to write music now songwriting is his career.
Jack - who was once part of a two-piece band called The Upholsters - explained: ''When I worked in an upholstery shop I couldn't wait to get home and record the idea that had been brewing all day. Now I do all these other things and they're all creative, so I've had to learn, over the years, to find new ways of writing songs.''
The 38-year-old rock star also revealed he can no longer go to gigs because he gets recognised and approached by fans who all want photographs of him, meaning he can't enjoy the live music.
He told MOJO magazine: ''People won't leave me alone. I can't listen to one song without people taking a photo or something, and it's a shame because most of my inspiration came from that.''
