Forget the critics, the ones who actually get paid to review stuff, anyway; for the Pacific Rim stars, Kanye West’s recent endorsement of the film is good enough. Especially considering it’ll probably get panned by the actual critics anyway.

Kanye’s glowing review came on Independence Day, when he tweeted: "I saw a pre-screening of Pacific Rim yesterday and it's easily one of my most favorite movies of all time." He continued, "This is not another 'Robot' movie. Guillermo del Toro is a master." Now this went down pretty well with Idris Elba n co when they rocked up to the glitzy premiere and were asked about Kanye West. Elba, for one, called the rapper a “viosionary”, said he loved his new album , and that he’d definitely be tweeting him back.

Kanye’s comments on Pacific Rim being “not another ‘Robot’ movie” are quote apt, which isn’t something you can usually say about him. Transformers director Michael Bay called it another one of the "rip-off" robot movies that have come out since his epic. "We are far, far, far away from that in a very willing fashion," said the filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. "For good or bad, this is my movie. This is my universe and my creation, and I do not create through comparison."

Pacific Rim comes out in U.S cinemas on July 12th. Check out the trailer below.
