British Actor Ian McKellen Has Assured Fans He Is Doing Well In His Ongoing Battle With Prostate Cancer.
The Lord of the Rings star confirmed his diagnosis in 2012, revealing he had been dealing with the disease for "six or seven years", and he has now offered an update.
MCKellen shared the results of his most recent check-up and insisted he is in good health.
He tells British magazine Time Out, "Like a lot of men my age I've got prostate cancer, but if it's diagnosed early on, it's perfectly manageable. And my levels of PSA (prostate-specific antigen, a protein produced by cells of the prostate gland) - which is how they judge it - are way below the interesting level, let alone dangerous. So I'm fine, really."
