Hugh Jackman poured freezing cold water over his head on Sunday night (06.09.15) in a bid to kickstart the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge for 2015.

The 46-year-old actor, who didn't participate in the viral craze last year, filmed himself being doused with water as he attempted to raise funds for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which is also known as Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Taking to his Instagram account, the 'Wolverine' star shared a short clip of himself dressed in a white shirt and bow tie as he kneeled in the bath, clutched a bucket, and said, ''I know I'm late but this is the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Bring it on!''

He then tipped a red plastic container filled to the brim with ice cubes over his perfectly groomed hair as he let out a manly groan and added, ''Oh yeah!'' followed by a snigger.

The ALS association announced last month it was aiming to resurrect the campaign, which saw a reported 17 million people around the globe tip water over their heads last year, after it helped raise an estimated $115 million for the charity.

Meanwhile, Hugh, who is known for his charity work alongside his wife of 19 years Deborra-Lee Furness, has had his hands full in recent weeks with promoting his forthcoming film 'Pan' and preparing for his arena show 'Broadway To Oz'.

Stars who took part in the challenge last year included David and Victoria Beckham, Benedict Cumberbatch, Britney Spears, Oprah Winfrey, Cara Delevingne and James Franco.
