Hugh Jackman Is Hoping To Spike Interest In The Als Association's Ice Bucket Challenge By Dousing Himself With Freezing Water And Posting The Footage Online.
The Australian star took part in the challenge last year (14) when he gathered his Pan cast and crew in a field in the U.K. and tipped ice over each other, and now he has become the first A-lister to take it twice.
Apologising for being late to the "2015 Ice Bucket Challenge" in the clip, the Les Miserables star pours freezing water over himself while kneeling in a bathtub, wearing a shirt and bow-tie.
Ice Bucket Challenge co-founders Pete Frates and Pat Quinn resurrected the movement on 31 July (15) by announcing plans to relaunch the campaign at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts.
Drought conscious Renee Zellweger took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge last month (Aug15) after ALS Association West Coast official Rebecca Fisher dared her to, and she took it while standing in a bucket at her stables in Los Angeles, so as not to waste water.
She challenged her "English pals" Colin Firth and Eddie Redmayne, who picked up an Oscar for his portrayal of ALS sufferer Professor Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything, to tip the Ice Bucket to raise awareness about the neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord.
The Challenge idea was launched in 2014 and quickly became a viral phenomenon around the world as celebrities, politicians and ordinary people came up with wacky ways to tip ice over their heads and post it online.
According to the ALS Association, more than 17 million people participated and helped raise $115 million (£72 million) for ALS awareness and research services.
