Director J.J. Abrams begins filming after the 72 year-old actor's on-set injury caused production to shut down for two weeks.
Director J.J. Abrams can now breathe a sigh of relief as 'Star Wars: Episode VII' is set to resume filming later this month after a two week hiatus that gave Harrison Ford time to recover from a broken leg he sustained while on-set in June, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
J.J. Abrams suspended shooting for two weeks after Ford's injury
The 48 year-old filmmaker decided to close down production of 'Episode VII' for a two week period to give the crew time to rework the shooting schedule whilst Ford, who is reprising his role as Han Solo, recovered from having surgery on his injured leg.

The 72 year-old's leg broke while he was shooting in the U.K. when a spaceship fell on top of him. Ironically it was his characters' own ship's hydraulic door, from the famed Millennium Falcon, that caused the damage.
After the incident, which occurred in Pinewood Studios, on the outskirts of London, Ford was airlifted to a nearby hospital to receive treatment. When arriving at the medical centre it was determined that Harrison would have to undergo surgery to repair the damaged leg.
At the time his publicist, Ina Treciokas, released a statement that read, "His surgery was successful and he will begin rehab shortly. He's doing well and looks forward to returning to work."

Ford looked like his leg had fully healed as he was not wearing a cast or using a walker when attending the Los Angeles premiere of 'Expendables 3' on Monday night (Aug 11th).

The other two original cast members, Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher, have joined Harrison to reprise their iconic characters in the J.J. Abrams-directed film. Newer members of the cast include Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, 'Girls' actor Adam Driver, 'Lord of the Rings' star Andy Serkis and Swedish actor Max von Sydow.
Even though there has been a sort delay filming 'Episode VII,' Disney have stated that the movie is still "on track" to be released in December 2015.
