Gwen Stefani reportedly wants Gavin Rossdale to take a lump sum rather than seeking half of her assets as he is entitled to under California law following their marriage split.
Gwen Stefani has reportedly offered Gavin Rossdale a payout to avoid splitting her $120 million fortune.
While Gavin could be entitled to half of Gwen's assets under California law as the pair did not have a pre-nuptial agreement, Gwen - who filed for divorce earlier this week after 13 years of marriage - is said to be hoping Gavin will take the money.
A source told RadarOnline: ''Gwen has really struggled with the idea of just handing over half of her hard-earned money to Gavin, and there is a lot of anger there. Gwen is hoping to just pay Gavin off because she doesn't want to pay him any type of support. Gwen's approach is that she should get to keep what is hers.''
While Gavin is believed to be worth $20 million and Gwen $80 million, sources close to 'The Voice' judge say she is worth significantly more.
An insider explained: ''It's significantly more, around $120 million. A significant portion of the earnings comes from Gwen's clothing lines, being a judge on The Voice, and of course her music career makes up the rest.
''Before Gwen and Gavin got married, her business advisers recommended they get a prenup. But Gwen balked and didn't think it was necessary because this was going to be her forever.''
However, Gavin is reportedly not impressed with the offer, with an insider saying: ''His lawyer, Laura Wasser is going to go after as much money she can get out of Gwen. It has gotten very contentious, very fast between the two.''
The couple filed court documents ending their marriage earlier this week and issued a statement confirming the news, insisting they will be seeking joint custody of nine-year-old Kingston, six-year-old Zuma and 17-month-old Apollo.
In a statement, the couple said: ''While the two of us have come to the mutual decision that we will no longer be partners in marriage, we remain partners in parenthood and are committed to jointly raising our three sons in a happy and healthy environment.''
