It was certianly a lucky escape for Giana de Laurentiis, who is the eldest daughter of actress Veronica De Laurentiis and the producer Alex De Benedetti. After graduating from Marymount High School in Los Angeles, De Laurentiis attended the University of California, Los Angeles and earned her bachelor's degree in social anthropology in 1996.

She trained at Le Cordon Blue in Paris with aspirations of becoming a pastry chef and later worked for the Wolfgang Puck-owned Spago and as a food stylist for various magazines. 

Today, she is a regular contributor to NBC's Today Show and is co-founder of the catering business GDL Foods.
