Executives at George Lucas' Lucasfilm company have settled a legal dispute with America's Department of Justice over allegations the firm engaged in "anti-competitive" business practices.
Bosses at the government body filed a complaint against the movie mogul's company, claiming Lucasfilm chiefs had set up agreements with animation giant Pixar which made it difficult for workers to change jobs between the two firms.
The legal filing alleged executives at Lucasfilm and Pixar agreed not to headhunt each other's employees, to notify each other when offering a worker a job, and not to counter-offer when an offer was made, according to Variety.
Assistant Attorney General Christine Varney said of the case, "The agreement between Lucasfilm and Pixar restrained competition for digital animators without any pro-competitive justification and distorted the competitive process."
Lucasfilm executives have now settled the legal action by agreeing to meet the Department of Justice's list of demands, which prohibit the companies from "entering, maintaining or enforcing any agreement that prevents any person from soliciting, cold-calling, recruiting or competing for employees."
Pixar bosses were not named in the suit after previously agreeing to amend working practices.
