George Ezra gave up drinking for four weeks after the BRIT Awards.

The 'Budapest' hitmaker - who was nominated in the Best Album, British Male Solo Artist, Breakthrough Act and British Single categories at the ceremony in February - decided to quit the booze after a heavy night of partying.

The 21-year-old singer confessed to having hit the drink for nearly a year and half prior to the award show and decided to ''chill out'' following the event held at London's O2 Arena.

He said: ''I realised I'd been drinking for 18 months. I had to stop it, I couldn't keep up.

''I had to chill out. I should have waved my white flag two weeks before The Brits.

''It got to the point that, even if I wanted to carry on, I couldn't. I was exhausted.''

George was so dedicated to his detox, he even axed two shows in Manchester and Glasgow to keep away from the booze.

He confessed: ''I had to pull two shows in the UK so I didn't drink for four weeks.''

Despite his heavy night at the ceremony George was able to keep his antics under wraps by shunning fancy after parties and hitting the pub with his friends instead.

He told The Sun newspaper: ''I saw photos of other people leaving official parties and was glad I wasn't there. That's why I went to my mate's pub instead. That's the way to do it.''
