An intruder has been arrested for reportedly breaking into the wine cellar of actor George Clooney's Italian mansion.

A 29 year old Romanian man scaled the fence at the Gravity star's Lake Como villa on Wednesday (21May14) and stole a bottle of expensive wine from Clooney's well-stocked cellar.

The unidentified man then attempted to enter the main house, but he was spotted by a member of the actor's staff, who called police.

When officers arrived, the man allegedly threatened them with the bottle, but was overpowered and arrested.

He has been charged with theft.
