George Clooney revealed the details of his career history on the red-carpet at the 84th Academy Awards on Sunday (26 February, 2012). The actor, who eventually lost out on the Best Actor gong to French star Jean Dujardin, said he used to be a driver - for a particularly famous star.
The Descendants star bumped into crooner Tony Bennett on the red carpet, while he was being interviewed by Access Hollywood. George, 50, who was accompanied by his girlfriend Stacy Keibler, said, "I was his (Bennett) driver when I was 19. I did it for about three weeks. He doesn't remember". After George jogged the singer's memory, the 85-year-old said, "He was very good. He had to tell me about it many years later. He actually drove me somewhere and I didn't know who he was. I'm so proud of you, you're doing everything right". The Oscar-nominee joked, "I'll still drive you anywhere you wanna go". Following the nominations announcement in January, Clooney was the bookmaker's favorite to win his first Best Actor award, but silent-flick The Artist began gaining momentum, as did its director Michel Hazanavicius and actor Jean Dujardin, who eventually took home the statuette.
Clooney's only scheduled movie for 2012 will see him play the lone survivor of a space mission in Sci-Fi thriller 'Gravity'. The movie, which also stars Sandra Bullock, is scheduled for release in November 2012.
