You might want to sit down for this news – George Clooney, bachelor extraordinaire, is now engaged. According to Us Weekly, while 52-year-old Clooney is yet to make an official announcement, “multiple sources” have confirmed that he has indeed popped the question to his girlfriend, Amal Alammudin. Alammudin is 36, works as a lawyer and hails from Britain, the website also reports.

The engagement turns out to be old news – by internet standards anyway. An anonymous source for Us claims that the pair were spotted at a West Hollywood restaurant, where they seemed to be toasting the engagement. It sounds like this one is going to last. That said, the relationship is fairly new. According to Us, the pair were first spotted out together in October 2013 in London, while he was still dating model Monika Jakisic. They later attended a White House screening of Monuments Men as a couple.

"This is the healthiest relationship I've ever seen George in," a source reportedly told the website. "He seems incredibly happy, and Amal is such a sweet and intelligent girl, who has her own thoughts and ideas and doesn't just bow down to everything he says."

While the term “girl” doesn’t seem entirely appropriate for a 36-year-old career-driven woman, but the pair seem really happy with each other regardless. It sounds like congratulations are in order for Hollywood’s newest couple.
