George Clooney has been arrested outside the Sudanese embassy in Washington for protesting against the blockage of food and aid from entering the Nuba Mountains area of the country, reports the Washington Post.
Though the story is still developing, Clooney and his colleagues knew that standing on the embassy's ground - which is private property - would lead to an arrest. The newspaper posted photographs of the actor being handcuffed and led away by police. Clooney - who was accompanied by his father, the journalist Nick Clooney - is seen wearing a blue cardigan with casual jeans and a white shirt. An early snap of him shows the Oscar-winning actor laughing and joking with fellow protestors, though the scene took an ugly turn. George's publicist Stan Rosenfield tells Tmz.com, "They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children. They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world".
