Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman opposite Affleck and Cavill, while Rita Ora heads for the 50 Shades set. We also hear about Paul Walker's posthumous Hours and are teased with new Spider-man and BoxTrolls trailers...
The big story this week is that Wonder Woman will make her long-awaited big-screen debut in the upcoming Batman vs Superman movie starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. Israeli actress Gal Gadot has nabbed the key role; she's best known as Gisele in the last three Fast & Furious movies. 'Batman vs. Superman' has found its Wonder Woman, but who is Gal Gadot?
It was also announced that Rita Ora has joined the cast of Fifty Shades of Grey, which is currently filming in Vancouver with Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan in the lead roles, and Sam Taylor-Wood directing. Others joining the cast include Marcia Gay Harden and Jennifer Ehle. We take a closer look at the appointment here.
In the wake of Paul Walker's death last weekend, audiences are anxious to see his next completed film, Hours, a drama set in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. In a new behind-the-scenes feature on the movie, Walker discussed his role as a single dad trying to keep his infant baby alive. It's a rare serious dramatic role for Walker, and audiences in America will get a chance to see it when it opens next week. Take a look at the 'Hours' trailer here.
This week's most prominent trailer is a first glimpse at , which looks bigger and darker than the last movie. Stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone and Sally Field are back, along with Jamie Foxx and Dane DeHaan. Opening next spring, it looks very whizzy, and perhaps a bit overwhelmed by digital effects. We have the latest trailer and some great stills from the movie here.
We also got our first look at Chavez, a biopic about the iconic activist Cesar Chavez, who fought for workers' rights and racial equality in 1960s and 1970s America. Michael Pena plays the title role opposite America Ferrera, Rosario Dawson and John Malkovich. With a punchy dramatic style, the film is directed by actor-filmmaker Diego Luna. It opens in March. Click here to watch the 'Chavez' trailer.
There's also a new trailer for the complex French drama The Past, from acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi (A Separation), starring Berenice Bejo (The Artist) and Tahar Rahim (A Prophet). It's a potent drama about family connections. After making the rounds of festivals this year, it opens in America in December and Britain in March. You can take a look at the trailer for 'The Past' right here.
And finally, there's a very cool teaser for the stop-motion comedy-adventure , stressing the hand-made nature of the production with glimpses of puppeteers at work alongside finished film footage. Character voices are supplied by Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Ben Kingsley, Toni Collette and Elle Fanning. It opens next September. Have a look for yourself here.
