The very first teaser trailer for Disney's live action rendition of 'Beauty And The Beast' has finally been unveiled, after months and months of anticipation. We only get the briefest of introductions to this hugely anticipated re-boot, but even so it's enough to get us wishing the rest of the year away.

Emma WatsonEmma Watson stars in 'Beauty And The Beast'

The trailer for 'Beauty And The Beast' gives us our first glimpse of the glorious interior of the beast's neglected castle, as well as a couple of iconic moments; the beast clawing at his own portrait, and a brief exchange between Cogsworth (Ian McKellen) and Lumiere (Ewan McGregor) as Belle first crosses the threshold.

'Look, a girl!' Whispers Lumiere. 'Yes, I can see it's a girl, you fool', Cogsworth snaps. 'What if she is the one?' Says Lumiere. And then one word echoes, sending shivers down the spine as Emma Watson in all her Belle glory nervously calls 'Hello?' into the darkness. She's the only character we even get a glimpse of in the trailer, her unmistakable brown eyes appearing behind the glass of The Enchanted Rose. Alas, no yellow dress in sight.

The movie has been directed by the Oscar winning Bill Condon ('Dreamgirls', 'Mr. Holmes'), with a screenplay adapted by Evan Spiliotopoulos ('The Huntsman: Winter's War') and Stephen Chbosky ('The Perks of Being a Wallflower') from the original 1991 animation written by Linda Woolverton.

For those who never saw the movie and therefore don't know the story, it's a tale about a bookish young woman who repeatedly spurns the advances of the town hunk Gaston (Luke Evans). When her beloved father Maurice (Kevin Kline) is kidnapped by a beastly man in an isolated castle, she offers to take his place and is soon introduced by a variety of enchanted household objects who she soon learns used to be the beast's staff when he was a handsome prince, until a witch cursed them all with a spell that could only be broken by true love.

It's a film that follows on from the flurry of live action re-workings that Disney have been releasing recently, such as 'Maleficent', 'Cinderella' and 'The Jungle Book'. 'Beauty And The Beast' is set for release in US theaters on March 17th 2017.
