The 'Harry Potter' actress has opened up to Vogue about her 'horrendous' break-up last year.
Emma Watson has revealed she took a week-long silence following the end of her year-long relationship with Oxford rugby star Matt Janney last year. Speaking to Vogue for the magazine's September issue, the actress described the split as ‘horrendous’ but added that overall her relationship experiences have been positive.

“I felt really uncomfortable, even before my relationship ended,” Watson told the mag. “I went on a silent retreat, because I really wanted to figure out how to be at home with myself.” The retreat the actress went on was a private getaway situated in Canada’s Rocky Mountains where residents take a silent vow for one week.
But although Emma described the break-up as ‘horrendous’, she did add that her past dating experiences have, for the most part, been pretty positive. “The boyfriend or partners I’ve had have generally made me feel really cherished,” she said. “They’ve built me up.
The 25 year old, who balances her acting career with a role as the U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador said that she hasn’t found her success to be a hindrance when it comes to men either. "I certainly haven't found that with doing all that I do or being all that I am, that I've struggled in my love life," she explained.
"I just think it's very patronising towards men. It undermines them." On the magazine’s cover Watson poses along with the headline, ‘voice of a generation’ and inside the mag she talks about her role as a UN Ambassador plus her HeForShe gender equality campaign.

"Part of me relaxed after I took on that position, it gave me a sense of belonging and purpose. Everything clicked in to place, in a way that it hadn't before,” the actress said. “I understood what I'm here to do and knew where to channel all this energy that has been coming at me. I now feel this sense of peace. People say that I'm different since I did it."
